I remember first meeting Wendy and Kevin we met at local cafe almost a year ago. Over drinks we talked about Kevin’s thesis and Wendy’s work in healthcare as well as our common interest in good food and photography. They then divulged details about their unique Distillery District wedding with a couple of interesting themes they were bouncing off me. Throughout the year, we made time to catch up here and there. They would show me samples of their invitations, and photos they have taken from recent events they attended. It was awesome how much they involved and trusted me in part of the whole process. Their ideas and enthusiasm were infectious, I recall the feeling so pumped and excited about their wedding after each meet.
The days leading up to the wedding day, we were getting rain…and lots of it. My fear was that the rain forecast would spill over to the Saturday. We had a couple of backup locations planned, something I ask all my couples to consider as it is something that no one has control over, but it just wouldn’t be the same. Thankfully the day came and we could not have asked for better weather, thanks Mother Nature!
As I arrived at Wendy’s hotel suite at the Royal York, I was greeted by her bridesmaids Shaoyee and Joanne. They had just gone on a coffee run and the mood in the room was nothing short of calm and relaxed. Lucy was also there as she was the hired MUAH but offered to tag along to shoot after her MUAH duties were complete.
With the TV on the girls were chatting about recent events as well as reminiscing about the past as I captured moved through the room invisibly to capture some details. Here are some of my favorites of the day.
Kevin looking quite dapper.
Although scheduling was tight, Wendy and Kevin opted for a first look/reveal which I think was great decision. It gave them opportunity to spend a couple of minutes to themselves it was was Wendy’s most memorable part.
Wendy and Kevin thank you for having us be part of your special day. We had an amazing time with your family and friends.
